Welcome to Eden Churches!

We are an Anglican church community based at St Paul's Church, Holme Eden (just outside Warwick Bridge) and the Church of the Holy Trinity and St Constantine, Wetheral.

Our vicar is the Reverend Rory Clare

Rory

We have a mixture of different services across the month, as well as lots of social events and clubs.  There's something for everyone, whether you've been going to church your whole life, or whether you've never set foot in a church before.

Upcoming Special Events at Eden Churches

Engage - 21st September:
The next 'Engage' session at Holme Eden church will be led by the Rev Dr David Bartholomew, who will speak on "The Covenantors of Galloway - The Christian Faith in times of persecution"
David is a published author on this subject as well as a retired Church of Scotland minister who served in St John's Town of Dalry in Dumfries and Galloway for his entire ministry, so is amply qualified to speak on this. His first degree is in geology, a background he shares with our former vicar.

Eden Breakfast - 4th October:

The next breakfast will be on Saturday 4th October 2025 at Carlisle Golf Club and continues the established pattern of six breakfasts – these being the first Saturdays of September, October and November followed by February, March and April  2026.

The speaker will be  Tony Cattermole.
Tony was brought up and educated in rural West Sussex as a catholic. After moving to Cumbria he  and his wife Michelle joined the Anglican church firstly in Penrith then four years ago St John's, Cotehill where Michelle is now churchwarden. Working for UKAEA ( while in the evenings & weekends, separately working at a Soho pub, managing a rock band and as a hospital radio DJ) he qualified as a lawyer practising with many experiences over 30 years. Faith & doing the right thing has played its part.

The existing arrangements will continue:
Carlisle Golf Club will welcome us from, say, 8.20 and after a short welcome and opening prayer, breakfast will be served at 8.30
Our guest will speak to us for 30/35 minutes and will be followed by a time for Q&A.  A word of thanks and closing prayer will conclude the event about 10.00

£13.00 per person for the standard breakfast (and £8.50 per person for any smaller or special breakfast).

Booking arrangements will continue, as before – by the Tuesday before the breakfast, together with any special dietary requirements, with David Johnson by email at d.e.johnson@btinternet.com by phone/text 01228 562393/07779738711 or in person.  The usual reminder and details will be sent out by email the week before together with promotions in our parish magazines and elsewhere.
