Name: | The Reverend Lewis H. How | City: | Wolfville, Nova Scotia, Canada | Comments: | Your Parish Churches are wonderfully typical of our "goodly heritage." But what a joy to read of your "aspiration to be Bible-based, Christ-centred, Spirit-led and mission-minded." How I wish I could apply to be your minister! But alas, we of the Commonwealth are not able to enter England so readily as in the old days. Such a shame. Keep to your Evangelical cause for therein we are all called of our Lord in the great Commission. The Lord bless and keep all the souls of your in the cure of your living. | | #47 | Date: Wed 5th Aug 2009, 5:07am BST |

Name: | Frank Milburn | City: | Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia | Comments: | I loved visiting your site as it brought back memories of when i visited the Croglin church back in 1988. My son also visited late last year. My father was Isaac Milburn whose family lived in the house on the eastern side of the church (graveyard). He was born ion 1901 and left his family behind to emigrate to Australia in 1922. The Milburns continued to live in their house until about the late 1950's. Both my grandparents rest in the churchgrounds so I feel a real connection to the place. | | #37 | Date: Mon 10th Mar 2008, 4:01am GMT |

I'm also pleased to see that the church is thriving. I last visited some years ago when passing through but Rev Casson was not in. I must make the effort to come along again soon, as I've not actually been inside the church; it would be wonderful to do so and meet the parishoners and the curate. very best wishes Jeremy Dixon | | #34 | Date: Sun 2nd Dec 2007, 3:16pm GMT |

Name: | Ross & Alison Dawson | City: | Kawakawa Bay (nr Auckland, New Zealand) | Comments: | Greetings from the other side of the world. We had the pleasure of visiting the Croglin Church a few years ago. Alison's gtgt(etc) grandfather John Wallis DD was vicar? at Croglin c 1760 and married Esther Mulcaster. Their offspring served with distinction as officers in the Royal Navy during the Napoleonic Wars, and by various twists and turns their bloodline came down to the Wallace Gill family (Alison's father) in New Zealand! (Wall'is' became Wall'ace' some time in the 18th century) We didn't spot the Rev Wallis's grave but did note a number of Mulcaster names on the stones. What a pretty area. We stopped at the village for refreshments and took several photos. We wish all God's blessings for your ministry at Croglin and for the village and residents also. Comments: | Hello, Greetings from New Zealand. Will look at your churches in a minute. My Gt. Gt. Gt. Grandfather James Stewart lived in Wetheral in 1861, with his wife Mary, born in Beaumont, and probably worshipped at the Wetheral church which i shall look at in a moment. One of my joys is knowing that he designed such enduring church buildings, Gilsland, and Rockcliffe which are quite near you.
I shall be visiting these churches and other landmarks including Wetheral next year when i come to sing for a friends 90th birthday, plus of course chasing up my Brown heritage as well as my Stewart line, which I have pretty well documented. Cumbria is just such a stunning part of England, and when i once puffed up Hellvellyn, I never knew that I was viewing so many places where my ancestors had been born and raised. Great website, and so easy to get around. We do not have villages here in New Zealand and I feel quite homesick, admiring the pretty villages of Cumbria. |

Comments: | Wonderful website, especially the welcome page from your parish priest. I was hoping for a list of tombstone inscriptions but I guess that would be a big undertaking. A number of my ancestors were married/born and were buried in Wetheral but the whereabouts of where John McKiver and his wife Mary are buried in the 1820's or early 30's is still a mystery.
Thank you

Comments: | I was brought up in Great Corby ( my father Tom Campling is actually in the photo taken at Wetheral Station), & it is lovely to see such a well produced site which will benefit local parishioners as well as giving opportunities to ex-locals to find out news about the local churches & see some wonderful photographs.
Well done to Phil & Malcolm. |

Comments: | Very interesting and well put together website. Tom Campling put me on to it as his grandson Christopher Collihole is getting married in our church on 13-08-2005 and we have been emailing about this and that. Please make sure you appreciate the depth of history and Christian heritage you have in England. I am originally from Liverpool and sometimes miss the beautiful churches there, as most of ours are very modern.
I will visit this site more and enjoy reading about the different churches. God's blessings to you all, Dave Johnson. (deejayz1@msn.com) |

Comments: | Congratulations to you, Phil and Malcolm on the new website. This is my second visit in a week! I look forward to further developments - no doubt Colin will be alerting the district to this news in the next 'Focus On Eden'. (Incidentally, re the item on the Parish Magazine in the Curacy bit, the present 'Focus on Eden' is Wetheral's former 'Star of Eden' and Holme Eden's 'Focus', very successfuly welded together by Colin in 2000) |
